Connecting Expertise to Opportunity
Q: What is your role, and what does your team do day to day?
A: As Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Distribution, I lead the strategy and execution of how we engage the marketplace. My team is responsible for building, managing, and strengthening relationships with our distribution partners while closely aligning with underwriting, claims, and operations. Day to day, we focus on positioning our capabilities appropriately, supporting growth initiatives, and ensuring our teams are connected, informed, and responsive.
Q: How does your team support clients, partners, and distribution?
A: We serve as a key connection point between our distribution partners and our internal teams. That connectivity ensures agents and brokers have clear access to our expertise, appetite, and leadership, while internal teams stay closely aligned to market needs and distribution feedback. Our goal is to create seamless engagement that supports strong outcomes for clients and partners alike.
Q: What problems does your team help solve most often?
A: We frequently help solve challenges related to clarity, alignment, and speed, whether that's ensuring the right risk reaches the right underwriting team, setting clear expectations around appetite, or navigating complex opportunities that require coordination across multiple disciplines.
Delivering clarity when it matters most
Q: How do you approach decision-making in complex or high-stakes situations?
A: I prioritize clarity, collaboration, and long-term outcomes. I rely on data, underwriting insight, and experienced judgment while actively engaging cross-functional partners to ensure we consider implications across service, risk, and growth.
Q: What guides your judgment when balancing risk, service, and growth?
A: Sustainable growth is always the foundation. That requires strong risk discipline, consistent service delivery, and thoughtful expansion aligned with our expertise. When those elements are balanced, we create durable value for clients, partners, and the organization.
Q: How do cross-functional teams contribute to stronger outcomes?
A: Cross-functional collaboration ensures alignment from the start. When sales, marketing, underwriting, and operations work together early, we reduce friction, improve decision quality, and deliver a more consistent and confident experience for distribution partners.
Built on trust, driven by expertise
Q: What does your approach mean for the people Berkley Human Services serves?
A: It means access to specialized expertise, decision makers, and teams that understand their business. Our approach emphasizes long-term relationships built on trust, consistency, and a deep understanding of the human services marketplace.
Q: How does your leadership influence the client or producer experience and what should partners expect when working with your team?
A: I set the tone for responsiveness, transparency, and accountability. Partners should experience a team that listens, communicates clearly, and follows through, making it easy to engage with us and confident in the outcomes.
Q: What should brokers expect when working with your team?
A: They should expect engaged conversations, clear guidance, and a collaborative mindset. Even when an opportunity isn't a fit, our commitment is to provide timely feedback and constructive direction.
What sets Berkley Human Services apart
Q: What differentiates Berkley Human Services’ approach or expertise in the market?
A: Our differentiation lies in specialized underwriting supported by intentional sales and distribution leadership. We combine deep niche expertise with strong connectivity across teams, allowing partners to efficiently access the right expertise within our organization.
Q: Why does specialization matter in this segment of the business?
A: Specialization drives better risk selection, pricing accuracy, and long-term performance. It also strengthens relationships because agents and clients know they are working with teams that truly understand their risks and operations.
Q: How does your team remain aligned as the business evolves?
A: We stay aligned through ongoing communication with distribution partners, steady feedback loops, and close collaboration with underwriting leadership. This ensures our sales and distribution strategies evolve intentionally while remaining anchored in discipline and expertise.
