On July 17, 2017, the Illinois Department of Insurance issued Company Bulletin 2017-03 in response to Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner’s declaration of Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties as state disaster areas after significant flooding impacted these counties. Berkley Human Services understands that its policyholders may experience disruption in the delivery of mail and other hardships as a result of the floods. As such, Berkley Human Services is taking the following actions:
- Placing a temporary moratorium on cancellation and nonrenewal notices for affected policyholders.
- Providing affected policyholders with an extension of time to submit a claim or proof of loss.
- Providing affected policyholders with an extension of time to pay any outstanding invoices.
- Providing affected policyholders with an extension of time to make repairs to property if such repairs cannot be made within the policy’s time period for repairs.
