Position Summary

To provide support to the underwriters through the rating and computing of premiums on policies and endorsements, including preparation for policy writing and statistical information for coding.

Main Responsibilities
  • ​Rate package policies and excess if applicable.
  • Rate and Compute premium on quotes, polices and endorsements including experience rating and ISO rating.
  • Issue policies and endorsements.
  • Prepare rating worksheets.
  • Follow-up with outside companies regarding ancillary lines of coverage.
  • Ability to work with agents/brokers, supplying appropriate data.

    May perform other functions as assigned.
Qualifications
  • ​​High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years working experience with an insurance company, at least one year in Commercial Lines Rating, both manual and computer.
  • Licensed with appropriate state insurance regulatory entity, preferred.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Good PC skills and a working knowledge of Windows environment.

Position Summary

To assist underwriting department through the handling of limited exposure accounts and to complete underwriting functions based on the underwriting guidelines. To rate and issue these accounts. To provide functional support to underwriters.

Main Responsibilities Handle renewal accounts, as assigned by underwriters, by:
  • Following specific instructions of the underwriter.
  • Reviewing applications from agents/sales personnel and obtaining missing information.
  • Refer to underwriter or underwriting supervisor when outside underwriting assistant authority.
  • Prepare proposals for agents/sales personnel.
  • Follow up on all quotations in order to verify account status.
  • Order inspections as needed for underwriting of risk.
  • Maintain records and prepare required reports as necessary.
  • Meet or communicate with agents/sales personnel.
  • Maintain contact with and act as liaison between independent agents, insurance company, claims adjusters and other concerned parties in administering accounts where necessary.
  • Maintain and update files for underwriting reviews.
  • Process and rate business as assigned, to include manual, computer and experience rating.
  • Set up policy order and instructions for issuance by policy writing.
Qualifications
  • High school or equivalent graduate.
  • Above average mathematical skills.
  • ISO Commercial Multi-line rating knowledge and experience.
  • Insurance company experience.
  • Strong PC and keyboarding skills.

This notice is to make you aware of a recently discovered internet scam involving false offers of employment using the W. R. Berkley Corporation name and corporate logo. This fraudulent scheme involves offers of employment through an online process and may include the offer of funds to be deposited by the individual seeking employment and/or the subsequent request for payment of funds.

While W. R. Berkley Corporation and its member companies use various online employment sites to source potential candidates, no offer of employment would involve either the payment of funds for deposit or a request for funds from the applicant. If you encounter such a situation or similarly suspicious online employment process, please discontinue the online process, do not deposit the offered funds or make payment of any funds requested, and promptly contact W. We are actively investigating this matter along with the appropriate state and/or federal authorities to determine the parties responsible for this malicious and fraudulent activity.
