Position Summary

To provide support to the underwriters through the rating and computing of premiums on policies and endorsements, including preparation for policy writing and statistical information for coding.

Main Responsibilities
  • ​Rate package policies and excess if applicable.
  • Rate and Compute premium on quotes, polices and endorsements including experience rating and ISO rating.
  • Issue policies and endorsements.
  • Prepare rating worksheets.
  • Follow-up with outside companies regarding ancillary lines of coverage.
  • Ability to work with agents/brokers, supplying appropriate data.

    May perform other functions as assigned.
  • ​​High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years working experience with an insurance company, at least one year in Commercial Lines Rating, both manual and computer.
  • Licensed with appropriate state insurance regulatory entity, preferred.

Position SummaryThe accountant uses independent thinking, relying on personal judgment, training and experience to execute daily functions and to make recommendations on activities that support the accounting department.
Main Responsibilities
  • General ledger operations including but not limited to uploading of monthly journal entries & other entries that assist in completion of the monthly financials in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts; analyze and resolve variances.
  • Work independently and with other accounting staff on the monthly preparation and closing of financial statements and financial reports. Occasionally work with other departments within the company in completing tasks.
  • Responsible for collection of premium from insureds and agents.
  • Investigate and answer billing questions from underwriters, insureds and agents.
  • Assist with collection and submission of data for regulatory & statutory filings.
  • Assist Sr. Accountant with reinsurance billing, collection and processing.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Test and report any deficiencies on various system updates/changes.
  • Prepare and maintain procedural documentation.
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Investigate, resolve and document accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • May perform other functions as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with one year of accounting experience, or an associate’s degree in accounting with four years of experience in the accounting field.
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles.
  • Strong PC skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve work processes.
  • Team player with initiative.
